Play the classic NES game on your PC

Dizzy the Adventurer is an adventure game designed after the classic British cartoon series. It is originally released as an NES port and as a part of the earlier Dizzy series. However, indie developer Team Yolkfolk took it as a passion project, making it freely playable on PCs.

This version of Dizzy the Adventurer takes the same fairytale-inspired story of the original game. Here, Dizzy will try to become a prince to save Daisy from a spell cast upon her. As with the first title, this game will have you solve puzzles and clear stages to achieve your goal.

What is the game about?

Dizzy the Adventurer, much like several extant Dizzy stories, takes inspiration from fairy tales. This time it comes with a story resembling Sleeping Beauty. In the game, Dizzy's main squeeze, Daisy, got pricked by an enchanted spinning wheel and was put to sleep. Lying on the castle of the recurring evil wizard Zaks, she waits for the kiss of a handsome prince. To save her, Dizzy must become the prince.

To do that, however, he must clear the stages and solve the puzzles laid before him.  Along the way, he will also meet various characters. Like any platformer game, Dizzy will have limited lives and death resets. Don't worry, though. Dying is very unlikely in this game, even though you end up rolling Dizzy off a cloud and down to the hard ground.

The puzzles themselves are generally logical, and your progress is constant and satisfying. However, its central item-wrangling gameplay may be an issue for some. Dizzy can only carry three things at a time. With this, you will spend your time traipsing back and forth across the map to fetch the item you need. This is made more frustrating by the fact that movement can be taxing at first.

An adventure down memory lane

If you are a fan of the classic Dizzy games back in the '80s and '90s, then Dizzy the Adventurer will be right up your alley. This game app takes the original gameplay of the NES port and brings it to your PC. It has the same aesthetic as the classic games, so it will be like taking a trip down memory lane.
